I found a Jesus Pen at the store yesterday

Yesterday I took my wife on a date. Its too rare for us, so the time together was glorious. We ate sushi, and then went walking around the stores in downtown Vinings. Surprisingly (not) we ended up in one of those little shops with all kinds of trinkets that girls like my wife just love to look through.

Needless to say, I was slightly less enthusiastic about the shopping (looking no buying) that we were doing until I ran across this little gem.

Oh yeah, you read it right, that’s a Jesus Pen, complete with tag-line “Join the Religious Write”. Then, on the side of the pen it describes how a portion of the proceeds went to support the largest protestant church in China. Huh.

When I asked the girl behind the counter about the pen she said that they had sold out of all of them except the ones where Jesus was wearing red. Apparently, Jesus doesn’t wear red, which was news to me.

The 14 Deadly Sins… Seriously?

March 11, 2008 :: Posted by - Adam :: Category - Entertaining, Odd and Interesting

Begin Sarcasm…

Yesterday the Catholic church decided that those old seven deadly sins just weren’t cutting it anymore. I guess they figured that they put the original seven out there so long ago that people might need a few more to follow in order to stop this moral decay and whatnot. So, they put out a list of seven more deadly sins, raising the bar to a record 14! Here’s the list and what I think about each one:

  • Polluting – I’m all about the environment, but I don’t think the highway to hell is driven by smog.
  • Genetic Engineering – As in sheep, or people, or plants? I’m just asking because my sheep / sunflower hybrid is almost ready…
  • Being Obscenely Rich – Ok, this one seems odd, mainly because the Catholic church is obscenely rich. I mean, they are one of the largest land owners in the world! I’m just sayin…
  • Drug Dealing - Man! Now all those “good Catholic” drug dealers gotta just quit? What is the world coming to?
  • Abortion – I think this one is already covered under the original rule against murder.
  • Pedophilia – Nothing sarcastic to say here. Pedophiles need a good, old fashioned beating. Seriously.
  • Causing social injustice – Can someone tell me what this means? This one must be for the dude thinking to himself, “You know, I think today I’m going to turn the whole world against those stinkin slow Sunday drivers. In fact, I’m going to make it so they have to walk everywhere, while the rest of the world drives by them really fast, in the rain, and splashes water all over them.” Is that causing social injustice? I’m just curious…

Chasing Squirels in the Bedroom

January 19, 2008 :: Posted by - Adam :: Category - Entertaining

Have you ever heard a small rodent scurrying the in wall behind your head in the middle of the night? That was my entire night 2 nights back. Then, last night my little wall living friend decided it was time for a personal appearance.

Right after I put the kids to bed in came Mr. Squirrel, and of all things he came through the fireplace. But, before I could get after him he retreated through the fireplace and back into the wall. So, what did I do, I did what anyone would do in this situation, I blockaded the fireplace with tape, and ottoman, and a box (pretty impressive huh). Then I proceeded to play some Halo3 with friends.

But, not 20 minutes later I heard a scurrying inside of my blockaded fireplace. Thinking my wall of stuff was pretty well engineered (after all I went to Georgia Tech) I didn’t really worry about it, untill I saw the critter’s head appear above my box blockade. And the chase ensued.

I chased him (while wearing an oven mitt and carrying a large mag light) around the love seat, through the kitchen, down the hall and into the bedroom where I had him trapped! Then I chased him back and forth as he went under the bed and around the night stands to avoid me. And finally, came his fatal error (that was not actually fatal). He ran from me and jumped into a box of stuff that we had sitting on the floor. On seeing that and gloating over my ensured victory, I covered the box with a mirror and a pillow and took him outside where I set him free.

I like squirrels, as long as they stay in their proper place, outside of my home.

Everything has it’s place…

IT Support Call…ignorance is bliss??

September 12, 2007 :: Posted by - Adam :: Category - Entertaining

The other day I got an email from a good friend that works in IT support for a major computer manufacturer. Here is the actual call log:

Customer has very recently bought his new laptop.   Quick history…  He has opened up some programs and now he cannot see his desktop which he likes.

Our solution:
Problem Determintion=
// cu says the software program is showing on his display and he wants to go back to the icons
// advised cu to close program and he will see the icons
// Cust very satisfied with their service.

You gotta be at least mildly amused…
