Everything is Spiritual: Keeping a Calendar

Keeping a calendar is a struggle for me. Its hard to know what is important enough to put on there, and what is not. Sometimes I schedule out my day by what project I will work on at a certain time, then I get to that time and work on something else. But, I have noticed something, when my calendar is in order and my week is thoroughly planned on Monday morning, life seems to go much more smoothly and more things get done.
Calendar management is spiritual because it is an act of planning our time (it honors God as we do this wisely), and because it requires discipline to stick to the plan.
Our home gathering for our church plant has been studying Nehemiah and I am constantly amazed by how well planned and disciplined Nehemiah was in getting the job done. The guy gets a burden for the city, he prays and plans for 2 months, and then once he gets there he is so well planned and so disciplined that it only takes him 52 days to rebuild the entire wall around the city! That is serious calendar management. That’s what I want to strive for.
