Chasing Squirels in the Bedroom
Have you ever heard a small rodent scurrying the in wall behind your head in the middle of the night? That was my entire night 2 nights back. Then, last night my little wall living friend decided it was time for a personal appearance.
Right after I put the kids to bed in came Mr. Squirrel, and of all things he came through the fireplace. But, before I could get after him he retreated through the fireplace and back into the wall. So, what did I do, I did what anyone would do in this situation, I blockaded the fireplace with tape, and ottoman, and a box (pretty impressive huh). Then I proceeded to play some Halo3 with friends.
But, not 20 minutes later I heard a scurrying inside of my blockaded fireplace. Thinking my wall of stuff was pretty well engineered (after all I went to Georgia Tech) I didn’t really worry about it, untill I saw the critter’s head appear above my box blockade. And the chase ensued.
I chased him (while wearing an oven mitt and carrying a large mag light) around the love seat, through the kitchen, down the hall and into the bedroom where I had him trapped! Then I chased him back and forth as he went under the bed and around the night stands to avoid me. And finally, came his fatal error (that was not actually fatal). He ran from me and jumped into a box of stuff that we had sitting on the floor. On seeing that and gloating over my ensured victory, I covered the box with a mirror and a pillow and took him outside where I set him free.
I like squirrels, as long as they stay in their proper place, outside of my home.
Everything has it’s place…
