Are you taking care of yourself Spiritually?

Last week I was meeting with my brother Mr. D10 and he asked me a question that has had me reeling ever since. We were wrapping up our lunch together and walking back to the car and he turned to me and said, “so Adam, are you taking care of yourself spiritually?” The question took me back, and convicted my heart. And, I think in asking it he raises a good point; not only do Americans tend to be out of shape physically, but we tend to be spiritually out of shape as well.
We run ourselves ragged at work, then come home and try to spend quality time with our families. After finally getting the kids to bed (or whatever you do in the evening), we finally retire to have a little bit of personal time before crashing into bed exhausted and dreading the next day. Somewhere in the midst of this mayhem we call living we tend to forget the spiritual aspect of our lives and therefore neglect that area in our daily living. Then, once (or a few times) a week we show up at church and feel some degree of spiritual renewal, just enough to “get our fix” and forget all about the spiritual realm for another week.
We are meant for more! More of God, more interaction, more love, more relationship, more of ourselves poured out and more of Christ poured in. Taking care of yourself spiritually takes intention, just like taking care of yourself physically. It means setting aside time to seek after Jesus. It means being disciplined in your pursuit of Him.
So, are you taking care of yourself spiritually?
