Getting Things Done…thoughts on being productive
(Note: this was written Monday morning)
Right now it is 9:34am and I’m getting my day at the office going. I have to say that I’m pretty pumped about my day so far because I feel like I have already been extremely [tag]productive[/tag]; so bear with me if there is a tone of enthusiasm in my writing. This morning I got up at 5am (I’m trying to make a habit of it), made my breakfast, had good (in depth) [tag]prayer[/tag] time, read the [tag]Word[/tag], read the news (google news, fox news, and a little cnn), read other [tag]blogs[/tag] I like to keep up with, and went on a 12 mile [tag]bike ride[/tag]; all before 9am. I have to say that all that leaves me with a sense of accomplishment and the encouragement to be even more productive with the rest of my day.
Please keep in mind that I am not this productive every morning, in fact this is one of only a handful of mornings that I have been this busy. But, I’m hoping (eagerly expecting) to train myself to be this productive daily.
I am convinced that most of us are far less productive, and therefore far less effective than we are capable of being. How many mornings have I dragged myself out of bed late, rushed to get ready (missing my prayer and Word time), then gotten to the office just to feel sleepy and lethargic? Sure, those days I get more [tag]sleep[/tag], but the experience just leaves me drained. Compare that to today, where I got less sleep but spent time exercising both my spirit and my body; now I feel great, I’m thinking more clearly, and I’m more productive.
My encouragement to all of us is to get moving, be proactive and work hard as an act of worship. Imagine what all we can accomplish in just one day!
Work hard and become a [tag]leader[/tag];
be lazy and become a [tag]slave[/tag].

haha. i saw this post on bloglines monday and i looked all over your blog for it, because i wanted to comment. now i finally see it, and i can’t remember what i wanted to say. part of it was that for the last 6 days (work days) i’ve been getting up 30 minutes earlier to do a Bible study (For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn) and i really do see a difference in just getting out of bed earlier and starting my day with God like that. i guess the point is i totally relate to what you’re saying in your post. i love the sense of accomplishment i get from just spending the first 30 minutes of my day with the Lord… i can only imagine how much cooler it would be to do all that you did monday morning (and i hope you have continued your trend…) but i need to start small.
blessings!!

Good word man. I would love to get up early every morning and do that. I always end up staying up too late. For me it’s a matter of being disciplined enough to get up and go to bed early. My enemy is the waking up (i.e. the first 5 miutes of the morning). After that I’m fine and the days that I actually do get up, read, lift, run etc., I always feel better that day. I’m such a slacker.
Keep it up bro!
