Getting Things Done…thoughts on being productive

(Note: this was written Monday morning)
Right now it is 9:34am and I’m getting my day at the office going. I have to say that I’m pretty pumped about my day so far because I feel like I have already been extremely [tag]productive[/tag]; so bear with me if there is a tone of enthusiasm in my writing. This morning I got up at 5am (I’m trying to make a habit of it), made my breakfast, had good (in depth) [tag]prayer[/tag] time, read the [tag]Word[/tag], read the news (google news, fox news, and a little cnn), read other [tag]blogs[/tag] I like to keep up with, and went on a 12 mile [tag]bike ride[/tag]; all before 9am. I have to say that all that leaves me with a sense of accomplishment and the encouragement to be even more productive with the rest of my day.
Please keep in mind that I am not this productive every morning, in fact this is one of only a handful of mornings that I have been this busy. But, I’m hoping (eagerly expecting) to train myself to be this productive daily.
I am convinced that most of us are far less productive, and therefore far less effective than we are capable of being. How many mornings have I dragged myself out of bed late, rushed to get ready (missing my prayer and Word time), then gotten to the office just to feel sleepy and lethargic? Sure, those days I get more [tag]sleep[/tag], but the experience just leaves me drained. Compare that to today, where I got less sleep but spent time exercising both my spirit and my body; now I feel great, I’m thinking more clearly, and I’m more productive.
My encouragement to all of us is to get moving, be proactive and work hard as an act of worship. Imagine what all we can accomplish in just one day!
Work hard and become a [tag]leader[/tag];
be lazy and become a [tag]slave[/tag].
- Psalm 12:24
