A Note of Encouragement

This week I got a note in the mail from a local pastor. He sent me the note because he gets our churches newsletter and he reads the articles that I put in there (which are all posts on this blog as well). He wrote me a note just to encourage me and tell me that he appreciates my writing. This is a big deal to me because he was thoughtful and took the time to do it; it’s also a big deal because he is the pastor of a very large church in the area and usually those guys don’t have time for things like that. Here is what his note said:
Dear Adam, I am thankful for you and the skills God has given you to write. You are being a faithful [tag]steward[/tag] of God’s gift.
While Johnny was Pastor at Austell, I was put on the mailing list for “First News”. Rarely do I read what my colleagues write in their newsletters. However, your writing has caught my attention and I just wanted to say THANKS!
I’m not posting this to bolster my ego, or to pat myself on the back, I just want to point out that this is what everyone within the church should be doing. We should all seek ways to [tag]encourage[/tag] one another to use the gifts and abilities that God has blessed us with for the furtherance of His Kingdom. If you are thankful for what someone is doing within the body of Christ…TELL THEM! Write a note, send a letter, give a hug, send an email, hang a banner, through a party, put it on the jumbotron; whatever it takes, tell people that you appreciate and love them.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
-Hebrews 10:24 (NIV)
I say…let’s get to spurrin!
We will do more study on Isaiah 55 next week…
