Feeding the 500…Sometimes Opportunity Knocks and Then Busts Down the Door

A few weeks ago our church had the opportunity to feed the South Cobb High School football team and their families. This was a unique opportunity for us; up the this point our only opportunity to connect with students at South Cobb has been through FCA. We were told that we should expect to feed about 300 people.
Then we found out it was more like 500!
This is me, cooking my heart out:

These are the volunteers working frantically to get ready:

This is the line to get food; the entire South Cobb Cafeteria was full:

I want to quickly point out two things here.
First of all, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to serve and connect with 300 people but God had another plan and a better opportunity waiting for us. Sometimes God is doing something that seems good and then He blows the roof off what we expect from Him. I’m convinced He does it for fun, and to bring Him glory.
Second, our church is coming into opportunities to minister to our community like never before. We have been doing events like this one, planning to start Upward Flag Football, and planning Taste of Austell (which will be a huge outreach event). This is truly an exciting time to be serving Jesus and ministering to our community in His name!
